Pandal – 1 – Dum Dum Park Tarun Dal

We arrived at our first Pandal for our trip. It was definitely a weird feeling. Let me explain why.

It’s a small crowded lane. It feels like there is no place to walk, let alone have cars going both ways. Suddenly a small entrance opens. It feels like we are entering another small dingy lane.

10 steps in, everything changes. It almost feels like you have been transported into another world. Everything is different, the surroundings, the music, the lighting, the art. Like how it feels when u enter a movie theatre. But more real. You need to experience it to feel it.

Every Pandal has a theme. The theme for this Pandal is “Jot” – the strength of connection.

Everything was built to showcase the strength of connection.

  1. Bee hive made from mud chai cups.
  2. Human pyramid again made via small pieces of jig saw puzzle.
  3. Ants – needless to say about their corporation
  4. Human DNA.
  5. And many more I would have missed to notice.

The whole thing was around brining small pieces together and building something big. And in the process the small pieces also had their identity.

It was fresh, new to see. There were not many people. No queue. No rush. So enjoyed the time.

Teacups arranged to make a beehive
Ants walking around
Human pyramid.
The main idol. I don’t know the guy sitting in front over a bed of arrows. Comment if you do.
Durga on close up
Not sure who this is either.
