Pandal – 15, 16 – Badamtala Ashar Sangha & 66 Pally

The next pandal was 66 Pally. It was a Pandal that was dedicated to the freedom fighters of Bengal. The theme was Tomar Pore Thekai Matha. Tomar Pore Thekai Matha is the first line of one of a poem of Rabindranath Tagore. It’s a poem about patriotism.

In this Pandal, the Durga was mother India. Mahishasura was a British guy. Funny shitt. 😄

It was funny to see the child like imagination comparing Durga and Mahishasura to Mother India and British.

The place was decorated with various freedom fighter’s photos and themes of Mother India.

The second Pandal was Badamtala Ashar Sangha. The theme was Swapne Pawa Ruper Rani. This means the goddess who appeared in the dream. The story is that Bhairava came in the dreams of an ascetic and told him to build a temple for his consort Bhairavi.

The entire pandal takes the form of a real temple. It was huge and looked like an old temple. The goddess inside looks like the usual Durga. Given it was a Bhairavi temple we also saw some dogs inside the Pandal. They know Bhairavi better.

Mother India as Durga and British as Mahishasura. The astras in her hand are also interesting. Zoom to see more. Ganesha is a peasant. 😄😄
Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesha, Muruga are all normal people. See the owl, swan and peacock also below them. Funny stuff.

Dark stuff.
Many posters like this.
Old cars in the Pandal. Don’t know why it’s here. But it adds to the theme.

Badamtala – Bharavi Temple Pandal.
Close up of Durga. Horse faced lion.
What better place for a Bhairava’s Vahan to sit. 2 dogs chilling know it’s Bhairavi’s temple. That’s how realistic the Pandal is.
