The city which is supposedly very romantic indeed looked very different from the Kutch region. The building here were a lot more rich and refined. The first thing I noticed was the streets were extremely clean. Especially in a main market area. The second thing that I noticed was the city sleeps even at 10am in the morning.

I had booked a place right on the Pichola lake with amazing views of the lake. But when I tried to checkin into the hostel, the owner was still sleeping. Obviously, the city is still sleeping. I finally got my room and a general chat with roommates revealed that it’s not a night town also. All action happens between 5pm to 10pm. Let me see if it’s really true.

The old city (where I am staying in) feels like it’s inside a fort. It’s filled with small gulleys and lots of shops. The water palace is right in front of my hostel. The place really has the vibe. And it’s only this part of the city. Every other place apart from old town is just “another city”.

The breakfast in the area is quite good too. I noticed the Maggi is a staple choice here. These guys really know how to make a good poha. I tried it at least in four places and all of them tasted good.

Lets see how my opinions change as I soak in more.
