Food and Palaces – Bhuj

After a lot of riding yesterday I decided to roam only in Bhuj today. Bhuj interestingly had a lot of places to visit and frankly one day is not enough.

Khaman Sev

I started my day with some street food breakfast. Went to the market area and had Poha, Khaman, Dabeli, Fafda, Jelebi etc. I also understood the difference b/w Dokhla and Khaman. They don’t sell Dokhla here.

Fafda and Jelebi

I started the city tour. Visited Kutch museum where I learnt about the earthquakes in the region. There have been more than 200 earthquakes and 5 big ones in the last 300 years. This means a person with an average lifespan of about 50 years would have witnessed atlesst a few earthquakes.

I then visited some of the palaces in Bhuj. The Kutch region was very rich and there were a lot of kings who ruled with Bhuj as their capital. So the entire city is filled with monuments here and there.

I also found out that I was not a big fan of visiting palaces. After visiting a couple of them I was like “one more again with huge rooms and taxidermy lions and tigers?”.
